Prevention Services

ENGAGE. EMPOWER. CONNECT.

With prevention programming going back to 2003, Prevention Services of High Point was officially established in 2015 to meet the ever expanding needs of the communities served. Prevention Services' mission is to prevent and reduce substance use by increasing awareness, providing education and offering support within the community. To do this, Prevention Services educates young people with accurate information and tools to cope with life’s challenges, and to help them understand the harmful effects of drugs and alcohol. Staff connect individuals and families with the resources they need to become better informed and work with leaders to build a system of support in every neighborhood.
Prevention Services doesn’t treat the individual, it treats the community. With roots in community organizing and common sense practices that puts people first, this dedicated group of Bachelors and Masters level staff strive for innovation in a field that relied on “just say no” for decades. Prevention Services looks at issues impacting communities and seeks to move conversations forward. Presently this includes initiatives addressing substance use, mental health, and problem gambling.
